Any review of VII Circle’s forthcoming Titan EP must undoubtedly begin with the EP’s title track.
“Titan” initially piqued my interest when Mind Against used it as their opening track while guest DJ’ing on a Brussels based radio show “Playground” and even went so far as name the track but left the identity of the creators unnamed only referencing them as a “duo from Italy”. Only now do we know that this mysterious duo is Andrea Vallisneri and Andrea Casari from Modena.

“Titan” is a real mood-setter delivering a sinister ambiance and downright spooky sounds blended with staccato percussions perfect for that right moment when a DJ is ready to ramp the energy and catch the crowds attention and has justifiably garnered a lot of support thus far.

“Unbroken” and the accompanying remix from white-hot Locked Groove are more typical pre-peak hour affairs with Locked Groove’s remix finding the right balance of synths and percussions while the original features a near minute long breakdown of whimpering synths that ends with a walloping drum sequence that is sure to let any crowd know that the peak hour is now here.

Wrapping up the EP is “Lone” which for me is also the best track. Not an overly powerful track, the main emotion featured in the aptly named “Lone” is melancholy. Versatile enough to be used in the right club setting by a savvy selector or behind the wheel on a late-night solo drive this winter, the somber mood just oozes out of the subtly crafted synthesizers and chords while the driving percussion and kicks maintain focus to keep the listener present and avoid getting lost too deep in the dark corners of their mind and soul.

VII Circle is certainly a coming force to be reckoned with and Stem has done wisely to sign their first EP.
